Dan Gaita is Board Member of European Society of Cardiology, Board Member of European Heart Network and Vice President of Romanian Society of Cardiology.

He is the Chief of Cardiology Clinic within Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases Timisoara, Romania.

His long term commitment in the field of Cardiovascular prevention is reflected in international positions and pioneering activities:
- 2006 – 2010 – Member of ESC Education and Accreditation Committee (Chairman of Education and Accreditation Committee - European Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation
- since 2009 – initiator and co-director of Dubrovnik Cardiology Update (endorsed by ESC Education Committee) – 2009/2011/2013/2013/2017/2019 edition
- 2012 - 2015 – Board Member of World Heart Federation
